Mayor Miron Appointed to Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority Board of Directors
Hartford, Conn. (April 18, 2006) - Mayor James R. Miron, Stratford, has been named to the CRRA Board of Directors.
Legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2002 reconstituted the CRRA Board of Directors to include high-ranking municipal officials. Mayor Miron replaces Stephen T. Cassano, who recently retired as Mayor of Manchester. He was nominated to the board by State Senate President Donald E. Williams, Jr. (D-Brooklyn).
The board is chaired by Old Saybrook First Selectman Michael A. Pace and includes Shelton Mayor Mark A. Lauretti, Waterbury Mayor Michael J. Jarjura, Southbury First Selectman Mark A. R. Cooper and Old Lyme First Selectman Timothy G. Griswold. Also serving are James Francis, Finance Director for the Town of West Hartford, and Elizabeth Horton Sheff, a member of the Hartford Court of Common Council.
The Connecticut Resources Recovery Authority is a quasi-public agency whose mission is to work for – and in – the best interests of the municipalities of the state of Connecticut. CRRA’s new board of directors and new management team develop and implement environmentally sound solutions and best practices for solid waste disposal and recycling management on behalf of municipalities. CRRA’s four solid waste projects serve 118 Connecticut cities and towns. CRRA also runs environmental and recycling educational programs through its Visitors Center and Trash Museum in Hartford and Children’s Garbage Museum in Stratford.
