Stratford Mayor James R. Miron Announces Results of the 2nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament to Benefit Area Non-Profits Tournament Donates 100% of Proceeds to Local Charities
Stratford, Connecticut (September 11, 2007) - Mayor James R. Miron announced today that the Stratford Mayor’s 2nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament held on Monday, August 20, 2007 at the Mill River Country Club raised over $80K (gross); with $50K (net) being donated to local charities.
The beneficiaries of this year’s tournament include Autism Speaks, American Society for Scleroderma Research, Disability Resource Center of Fairfield County, Emerge, Evergreen Network, The Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, the Stratford Visiting Nurse Association, the South End Community Center, Wounded Warrior Project, Protect Your Environment of Stratford, The Stratford Coalition for the Homeless, children’s programs offered by the Police Athletic League and the Stratford Library Association, animal advocacy organizations in Stratford, and Stratford’s public and private schools.
Mayor James R. Miron hosts the tournament as part of his commitment to raising public awareness for these charities through the Stratford Mayor’s Charity Events, Inc., a non-profit organization founded by him. The foundation is staffed by an all-volunteer committee that works to improve the well being of the local community by supporting area non-profit organizations.
“This tournament is a great way for everyone in the community to come together to raise funds to benefit charitable organizations in our Town and beyond,” said Stratford Mayor James R. Miron. “This is an opportunity to enjoy a great day of golf while giving back to the community that gives so much to each of us.”
