Mayor Miron Hosts Meeting with Area Residents on Raymark Superfund Site
Stratford, Connecticut (September 14, 2007) – Mayor James R. Miron issued the following statement regarding today’s community meeting on the Raymark Superfund site.
“Today’s meeting continued our efforts to provide our citizens a meaningful opportunity to express their concerns about Raymark in a productive setting. This is a human health and safety issue that is of utmost concern to me and to the members of my administration, and unfortunately there are no easy answers.
I commend the work of the Raymark Advisory Committee, who have dedicated their time over the past seven years to studying all facets of this issue and have presented their recommendations to the Town Council and to members of our community. I also commend the citizen’s group, Save Stratford, for their involvement.
I will continue to work on behalf of our residents to ensure the final remediation plan is a collaborative, transparent effort between our residents, the Raymark Advisory Committee, Congresswoman DeLauro, the EPA and our local elected officials.
