PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, Stratford’s Sterling House Community Center is celebrating 75 years of excellence (1932-2007) in providing social, educational and recreational programs for youth and adults in Stratford and surrounding communities; and

WHEREAS, Stratford’s Sterling House Community Center has served hundreds of thousands of children, youth and adults as a result of Cordelia Sterling’s vision of a “community center, park and playground;” and

WHEREAS, Stratford’s Sterling House Community Center has become a trusted “home away from home” for many of our youth; and

WHEREAS, Stratford’s Sterling House Community Center’s Board of Trustees, Council, Staff, Volunteers and Supporters truly represent the Center’s mission of “nurturing body, mind and spirit in the heart of Stratford;” and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, James R. Miron, Mayor, do hereby proclaim the April as Sterling House Community Center month in the Town of Stratford and urge all members of our community to recognize this special celebration.
