PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, The Stratford High School Wrestling Team won the Patriot Division title in the South-West Conference; and
WHEREAS, The Stratford High School Wrestling Team finished the 2007 season with an 18-9 overall record; and
WHEREAS, The Stratford High School Wrestling Team is coached by Thomas Cavaliere with assistance from Peter Tseperkas; and
WHEREAS, Junior Anthony Ricco (112-pound class), Junior Jesse Inman (125-pound class) and Senior Steven Flathers (140-pound class) captured South West Conference championships, while Junior Jordan Miron (275-pound class) finished runner-up; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Ricco won the CIAC (Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference) Class M championship to earn All-State honors. Jesse Inman and Steven Flathers were both Class M runner-ups; and
WHEREAS, Anthony Ricco and Steven Flathers both finished in fourth place in their respective weight classes in the Connecticut Open Tournament with Anthony Ricco qualifying for the New England Championships. Anthony Ricco and Steven Flathers were named to the All-State Academic Wrestling team; and
WHEREAS, The members of the Stratford Wrestling Team are to be commended for not only their athletic accomplishments but for their exemplary sportsmanship.
THEREFORE, I, James R. Miron, Mayor, do herby declare Monday, June 18, 2007 as the Stratford High School Wrestling Team Day in the Town of Stratford and ask all townspeople to congratulate the team members, coach Thomas Cavaliere, and assistant coach Peter Tseperkas.
