PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS, home fires threaten the lives of Stratford residents, potentially causing fire deaths, physical injuries and property damage; and

WHEREAS, educating Stratford residents about effective fire prevention techniques and safety measures is necessary to reduce the number of fire-related injuries and deaths; and

WHEREAS, preparing for a home fire in advance greatly increases a family’s chance of survival; and

WHEREAS, this year’s fire safety theme, “Practice Your Escape Plan,” encourages all residents to develop an escape plan and to practice the escape plan twice a year; and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, James R. Miron, Mayor, do hereby proclaim October 2007 as Fire Prevention Month in the Town of Stratford and urge all residents to be prepared and practice fire prevention tactics all year long.
