| PROCLAMATION WHEREAS, The Town of Stratford recognizes and celebrates “Black History Month,” a time to honor the many contributions of people of African-American Heritage to all aspects of American life and to be reminded of their dedication, courage and struggle to change hearts and minds; and WHEREAS, The Town of Stratford honors 12 local members of our community of African-American Heritage, both living & deceased, who have consistently contributed to the quality of life for all people in the Town of Stratford and beyond; and WHEREAS, The Town of Stratford honors 12 local members of our community, who have all reinforced their belief in the principles they each lived or live, in order to move forward toward the American Dream; and WHEREAS, The Town of Stratford proudly dedicates this 2008 “Wall of Honor” to the past, the present and the future realizing the dream continues here in Stratford with the legacies of Ella Anderson, Reverend William O. Johnson, Kathryn McMillan and Gail Stockham, and the work of Irene Cornish, Elene M. Crosby, Linda Faye Dowell, Alvin O’Neal, Vera J. Rozarie, Lee Ann Bradford Blackwell, Emma Johnson Brooks and James Eric Lazaro.
NOW THEREFORE, I, James R. Miron, Mayor proclaim February 2008 as BLACK HISTORY MONTH and ask all members of our Stratford community to recognize and thank those who continue to make a “A World of Difference.”
