PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Chief John J. Buturla initiated the first ever “Citizens Police Academy” in the Town of Stratford in an effort to enhance the Department’s interaction with the community; and
WHEREAS, for a period of ten weeks, sixteen Stratford residents took advantage of the opportunity to learn about a myriad of subjects and Department divisions; and
WHERAS, topics of the Citizens Police Academy included: Constitutional Law, the History of the Police Department, Motor Vehicle and Traffic Law, the Penal Code and Crime Scene Investigation and Forensics; and
WHEREAS, participants of the Citizens Police Academy also learned about the Department’s School Resource Officers, K-9 Officers and the Eagle One Helicopter; and
WHEREAS, the sixteen participants of the Citizens Police Academy completed 30 hours of instruction and a ride-along; and
NOW THEREFORE, I, James R. Miron, Mayor, do hereby recognize Wednesday, April 9, 2008 as the Graduation Celebration of the first ever Citizens Police Academy in the Town of Stratford.
