BACK NEXT 08-13-08 Mayor James R. Miron reinstated Stratford’s summer youth employment program through use of state funds from The WorkPlace, Inc. Following an orientation, ten Stratford youth began working the week of July 7, 2008. Each participant worked 17.5 hours weekly for six weeks. Under the supervision of John Mraz with the Department of Public Works, they painted the halls, offices and cafeteria at Johnson House of Stratford Academy. In addition to becoming experienced painters, they gained other valuable employment skills including following directions, working as a team, completing timesheets, understanding their paychecks, and being accountable. |
