PRESS RELEASE
THE STRATFORD POLICE DEPARTMENT WANTS YOU! Chief John J. Buturla is pleased to announce the first ever Stratford Police Citizens Police Academy. This ten-week course will begin on Wednesday, January 16, 2008. Class hours will be from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm each Wednesday. This is a tremendous opportunity for the Stratford Police Department to open its doors and give our residents a first hand look at how we do business. I am honored to have the opportunity to remove any perceived barriers so that we can begin to foster improved relations with the community that we serve. The course is free and open to all Stratford residents 18 years of age or older. The instructions will take place in the Stratford Police Department’s Training Unit at 900 Longbrook Avenue. The course will cover topics including: Crime and The Criminal Justice System, Criminal and Motor Vehicle Law, Prosecution and Defense, Police Administration, Criminal Investigation, Patrol Procedures and other areas of interest. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in a ride along program with Patrol Officers. Lieutenant David Salik, Commanding Officer of the Training Unit, has coordinated the course curriculum and may be reached at (203) 385-4168 if there are questions. Interested persons can pick up an application at the Desk Sergeants window at Police Headquarters or download it from the Town’s website www.townofstratford.com. All applications must be received by December 19, 2007. Chief John J. Buturla |
