| Continued from Connecticut Golf Magazine 2002 Annual Edition "Short and Sweet" by Ed Crnic "... The 103 yard fifth hole stands out as the most scenic. A beach sharing the course's namesake and Long Island Sound are worthy backdrops to a large green complex encircled by a healthy dose of sand and grass bunkers. For some, the hole's close proximity to the surf may invoke Pebble Beach's famous short par-3 seventh, minus the elevated tee and a few sea otters. Most regulars treat the 230-yard seventh hole as a short par-4. The hole plays into a strong headwind the majority of the time. Even Dalyesque drives can fall short of the large putting surface. An up and down here will add a bounce to your step as you head over to the eighth tee. Plaudits awarded to greekeeper Bob Szymanski for maintaining a linkslike character on this course." |
