All program registrations take place at the Recreation Office at Short Beach Park unless noted in the description. All Programs Subject To Change. Non residents may take particular classes at an additional $5 fee.

Adults are now $2 per swim and youth under 18 and senior citizens 65 and over are $1.

Swimming instructions in all levels of swimming will be offered for all ages at Flood Pool. Fee per session is $25 for half hour lessons and $30 for hour lessons. Registration is at the Recreation Office at Short Beach Park.  All Levels and Parent & Tot class registration is also online.  Click on Program Registration on the home page.  You must have a user id and password which you can obtain by calling the Recreation Office at 385-4052.

Fall Flood Pool Swim Lessons (Tentative)

Summer Flood Pool Swim Lessons - Registration at Recreation Dept Office at Short Beach Park for first session or online starting on TBA at 6:00 pm.  User name and password required.  Contact the office at 385-4052.

Evening Summer Swim Lessons

Lessons will be offered on Tuesday and Thursdays for 6 weeks from 6-8 pm.  The classes begin July 8-August 14.  Registration is June 24 at the Recreation Office at Short Beach Park from 6-7:00 pm or online.  User name and password required.  Contact the office at 385-4052.  Fee is $25 for half hour lessons and $30 for hour lessons. 

To insure the safety of all who attend our beaches several rules must be adhered to:

• Swimming is permitted in patrolled areas only
• No floatation devices are permitted on the beaches
• No swimming in the channel is allowed
• Pets and glass bottles are not allowed
• Bathing suits are required.
• No Boats or Windsurfers are allowed in patrolled areas

Aquarobics
A low impact aerobic class performed in shoulder depth water will be offered on Monday and Wednesday evenings at Flood Pool at 8:15-9:00 p.m. The 45 minute class is for adults only and will begin September 10 and run for 8 weeks.  The fee is $50.  Registration is through August 25-September 5 at the Recreation Office or online.  The next session is 10 lessons and will begin November 10-December 15.  Fee is $35.  Registration is October 20-November 7.

Pool will be closed for High School Swim Meets and School Activities 

The Swim Schedule is tentative and is subject to change.  Please check with the desk nightly to see about changes in the schedule.

Flood Pool is handicapped accessible with a hydraulic lift chair. For additional information call the Recreation office.  Flood Pool is available to rent for Birthday Parties. Call 385-4052 for information.

Participants must be 15 years old. Course will begin TBA at 6:00 pm at Flood Pool.  Classes will be TBA from 5:30-9:30 pm, TBA from 8-4 pm.  Registration is through TBA.  The fee is $175 which does not include the books which you may purchase through the Red Cross.

Participants must be 17 years of age. Course will be offered beginning TBA from 6:00-9:00 pm at Flood Pool.  Course dates are TBA.  Registration is through TBA.  The fee is $175.

The Department will sponsor Open Water I Scuba courses for ages 14 and over beginning on TBA for 4 weeks.  Class runs from 10-6 pm and the fee is $250. Those interested may call 385-4052 or (800) 484-0887.  Registration at the Recreation Office.

The Recreation Department will plan with the school group, a fun night of swimming, sports and games at Flood School. Open to all schools. Call 385-4052 for information.

Longbrook Wading Pool

Open daily from 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. for boys and girls up to age 9 beginning July 4 through Labor Day. THE POOL IS CLOSED FROM 1 - 1:30 PM FOR LUNCH 

Boating Class

The The Town of Stratford Waterfront and Harbor Management Commission in cooperation with the Recreation Department and the Connecticut Dept. of Environmental Protection will offer the CT DEP Boating Certification Course.  The course will be offered TBA from 6-9 pm at the Baldwin Center.  This 10 hour course includes instruction in navigation rules, legal requirements, safety afloat and other topics that will help participants become safe and knowledgeable boaters. Students successfully completing this course will receive a certificate which is required to operate a personal watercraft, power vessel and sail boats 19.5 ft. or larger.  Class is from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. Class registration is through TBA. Class is limited to 30. Fee is $15 for residents and $20 for non-residents.
