Fire Marshal's Office

The Fire Marshal investigates fires 24 hours a day; inspects buildings and properties for fire code compliance; inspects hazardous materials; inspects underground storage tanks and above ground tanks; performs plan reviews for issuance of building permits and provides fire prevention education to the community (schools, seniors, etc.).

The Stratford Fire Marshal's Office is required by CT General Statutes 29-305 to annually inspect all residential buildings occupied by three or more families. Three families and above are classified as apartments by the CT Life Safety Code.

Fire Prevention Poster Contest "Fire Safety, Everyone: Everyday". This year the contest begins on October 1, 2009 and ends November 30, 2009. Last year over 130 communities and approximately 30,000 student participated.
