Community Health Assessment Data

The Health Improvement Alliance (HIA), a collaborative of area Hospitals, Community Health Centers, Health Departments and other organizations in Bridgeport, Easton, Fairfield, Monroe, Stratford and Trumbull, has been undertaking a Community Health Assessment to gain a better understanding of the health and health practices of area residents. Through surveys, focus groups, and interviews with residents, community leaders and key stakeholders, HIA was able to collect valuable data that will help guide future planning in the region. As part of the process, existing data were also analyzed to assess strengths and needs in our area. Health data were collected on topics such as:

• Community strengths
• Barriers to care
• Leading health concerns
• Obesity related issues
• Smoking
• Alcohol use
• Health screenings
