The Community of Stratford

Since Stratford's founding in 1639 by settlers from Wethersfield, Connecticut, our community has been blessed with an abundant array of resources and talent. Stratford's founders were the forebears of some of America's most notable founders.

Educational resources loomed large in the contributions Stratford's citizens have made to their country and community.

Every conflict in which America has been engaged over the past 375 years has featured leaders and patriots from Stratford.

Many aeronautical inventions and improvements were designed and built in Stratford. The helicopter was created and first flown in our Long Island Sound Community.

As recently as December 2012 in Sandy Hook, Stratford's citizens have heroically made the ultimate sacrifice to protect the country and community they live in and believe in.
