The Stratford Health Department conducts routine inspections of all licensed hair salons, nail salons, and barbershops. The inspections, along with education, help to protect the public from the many potential infections that exist. Although health inspectors routinely inspect licensed hair and nail salons in town for cleanliness, we cannot guarantee safe practices are conducted at all times. Serious health risks are associated with getting a manicure and/or pedicure if proper precautions are ignored. These health risks can include:

Athletes Foot

Hepatitis B

Hepatitis C

Nail Fungus

Pseudomonas

Staphylococcus

Streptococcus

Warts

Yeast
